There are four ways to earn money as an Avon Rep and they basically build on one another.
Personal Sales Commission
It all starts with you selling Avon products. That’s the foundation on which to build your Avon business. If you don’t sell products to customers, you won’t make ANY money. Period.
The good news is that Avon provides tools to help you kickstart your business so you hit the ground running. If you are able to achieve all the Kickstart goals, you will have earned over $1000 in your first 90 days. This program helps create the momentum you need to really get going.In addition to outlining a path to success, Avon also provides a special discounted bundle of our most popular products to offer to friends, family and other contacts as you introduce your new business. It’s such a bargain that most people can’t resist purchasing!
Personal sales will always be key in growing your business. And while some people opt JUST to sell Avon products, those who are serious about building their business will start to add team members.
Sponsoring New Representatives
Also known as “recruiting” (I personally don’t like that terminology, but that’s the official designation!), as you share your love of Avon products and your persistence in growing your business, you can earn additional income by bringing new reps on board.
If you plan to have Avon support your family or parts of your lifestyle, you’ll want to share the opportunity to become an Avon Independent Sales Representative with others. When your new team member places — and pays for — her first order, you earn a $20 bonus right off the bat (if you are in Kickstart, you get $50). And you get 3% commission on your team members’ sales as long as they (and you) meet the minimum requirements.
Now I know what you’re thinking: “Ah, HA! I knew there was a catch! What are those ‘minimum requirements’ going to cost me?”
Let’s just clear that up right now.
What’s the Catch?First of all, if you do want to make money in Avon — or any other business, for that matter — you will need to set some goals that stretch you. Some people find selling exciting and natural. They love it! Others struggle to sell, but since they have an over-arching goal to work from home or work for themselves or just earn extra money, they’ll step out of their comfort zone.
If you want to attain higher levels of earning, more effort will be required. After all, how can you as a leader require your team members to work harder at sales than you do? As you rise up in leadership levels, your personal sales AND team sales requirements increase as well.
When you first start out and have, say, just one recruit, in order to earn that 3% commission on your team member’s sales, you need to have $50 in personal sales. (By the way, Personal Sales does not mean you, yourself, are making the purchase. Personal Sales is when a customer buys Avon directly from you and pays you or makes purchase from your eStore.)
When you grow to 3 team members, you become a Bronze Ambassador and are eligible for a $500 Promotion Bonus and a $250 Mentor Bonus. You also earn a “Generation Bonus” (commission from your team members) of 3% both on the people you directly recruited and 3% on the eligible sales of their recruits (second generation). BUT, your Personal Sales increases to $200 per campaign and team sales have to be $1,000 minimum.
So the “catch” is that you have to grow your business to make more money…
But wasn’t that the plan anyway??
And that takes us to the next way to earn:
By growing your team, you earn additional Generation Bonuses (commission from your team sales). You can have an unlimited number of first generation recruits (people you sign up to Avon directly). As they recruit team members, those new recruits become your “downline.” As you grow in leadership title, you are able to earn further Generation Bonuses up to five generations of recruits. So it pays — literally — to go wide and deep in your team building.
As you can see from the chart, helping your team members achieve leadership levels increases your earning ability. Not just because you get paid bonuses, but you are earning more in Personal sales and in team sales.
Obviously, attaining higher leadership levels is NOT going to happen overnight. It will take consistent, persistent effort to grow your Avon business into a real money maker.
